INACRAFT 2026 Celebrates Women Entrepreneurs in the Crafts Sector

INACRAFT 2026 was held from 4 to 8 February 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center. This year’s fair adopted the main theme “Exploring and Celebrating Womenpreneurs in Crafts”, with the sub-theme “From Smart Village to Global Market.”

Participation in this year’s event was extensive, with more than a thousand exhibitors—including individual artisans, craft enterprises, and institutional participants—showcasing a wide range of craft products. The displays featured textiles, stone carvings, metalwork, woodcraft, ceramics, and objects made from natural fibres, highlighting the diversity and vitality of Indonesia’s craft traditions.

The fair was officially opened by Teuku Riefky Harsya, Minister of Creative Economy. In his opening remarks, he paid tribute to the vital role of women in the craft sector, describing them as innovators, entrepreneurs, and guardians of cultural heritage who also contribute significantly to strengthening family and regional economies. He emphasised that INACRAFT connects tradition and innovation while serving as an important national and international networking platform. From the government’s perspective, he noted, INACRAFT will continue to be a strong partner in developing competitive and globally oriented Indonesian crafts with tangible economic impact.

The Chairman of ASEPHI, Dr H. Muchsin Ridjan, SE., MM, echoed the Minister’s recognition of the contributions of women in the craft sector. He also highlighted INACRAFT’s important role in promoting Indonesian crafts in the global marketplace.

Several awards were presented during the fair to recognise excellence in craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. The Best of the Best Award was presented to Ulos Pewarna Alam “Sibolang”, a textile produced by the Batak community in North Sumatra. The textile is dyed using natural pigments derived from leaves, flowers, and tree bark, and woven using traditional techniques with 100 percent natural cotton.

The INACRAFT Womenpreneurs Awards were presented in two categories. The Best Senior Craft Exporter Womenpreneur Award was awarded to Ms Ekawati Prayogo of Piviko Manunggal. The company specialises in fashionable handbags made from natural fibres and household products, and works with more than 50 groups of craftspeople across several regions in Indonesia. Its production approach also places strong emphasis on environmental sustainability.

The Best Social and Cultural Preservation Womenpreneur Award was presented to Dame Ulos. The company promotes the use of natural dyes while preserving traditional weaving practices by reproducing cultural motifs based on the original designs of the Silindung community. The initiative was founded by Ms Renny Manurung together with Dutch anthropologist Sandra Niessen. Their work focuses on revitalising ancestral ulos designs that had ceased production for several decades.

The Best Booth Award was presented to Danawa, an Indonesian brand from Yogyakarta known for producing wooden watches. The judges commended the brand for its effective use of limited exhibition space while creating a display that conveyed a sense of luxury and elegance.

INACRAFT 2026 once again demonstrated the strength and diversity of Indonesia’s craft sector while highlighting the growing influence of women entrepreneurs in shaping the industry. By bringing together artisans, designers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, the fair continues to serve as an important platform for connecting tradition with innovation and for promoting Indonesian crafts to wider national and international audiences.
