Gallery LNL in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Centre AU, present the group exhibition, Moon Jar; An Axis.

This exhibition explores Korean and Australian artists' engagement with the Moon Jar together with those forms it brings forth, like the moon. The Moon Jar is widely regarded as an emblem of Korean aesthetic sensibilities, yet it is also the site of a continual reimagining across media by Korea's contemporary artists. Axis establishes a cross-cultural discourse between Korean and Australian artists, examining at once the continuity of traditional practice, as well as the transformation which results from resituating the Moon Jar within a cultural context far removed from its historical beginnings.

Stourbridge Glass Museum, Wordsley, UK

A major group exhibition exploring glassmaking skills that are endangered, critically endangered or extinct in the UK. Held at the multi award winning Stourbridge Glass Museum, the exhibition is supported by Heritage Crafts and the Contemporary Glass Society. Using the Heritage Crafts Red List of Endangered Crafts as a guiding framework, the exhibition brings together contemporary glass artists working within traditions that are at risk of being lost, celebrating the people, processes and specialist knowledge behind these fragile skills.

Officially opening on the 11th July, there will be live demonstrations of mouth-blown sheet glass all day from Elliot Walker.

New possibilities shaped by earth

The 2026 Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale, themed “Earth Makes”, will take place this September across Icheon, Gwangju, Yeoju, and other areas of Gyeonggi-do.

The Biennale explores the flow and potential of contemporary ceramic art through clay, the essential material of ceramics.

Icheon, one of the host cities, is a UNESCO Creative City in the field of Crafts and Folk Art, alongside Cheongju. As part of introducing fellow UNESCO Creative Cities and sharing the value of creative city exchange, UNESCO Creative City Cheongju presents this Biennale and related competition.

The Korea Ceramic Foundation also hosts the 7th Beautiful Korean Ceramics Competition, inviting ceramic works that reinterpret Korean aesthetics, materials, and formative spirit in each artist’s own language.

Contemporary craft in focus

Stockholm Craft Week is Sweden’s largest event for contemporary crafts. The event is organised by Konsthantverkscentrum (The Swedish Crafts Centre), together with Svensk Form and Konsthantverkarna. Stockholm Craft Week 2026 is supported by the City of Stockholm, Region Stockholm, and the Swedish Arts Council.

On September 30, the international conference Collaborating Craft will take place, marking the opening of Stockholm Craft Week 2026. Hosted by the team behind Konsthantverkspodden, the conference will focus on collaboration and collective processes. In a contemporary world increasingly centered around the individual, Konsthantverkspodden proposes a hypothesis that art practitioners are moving in the opposite direction, pointing toward alternative, constructive paths forward. The conference highlights several of these artistic initiatives, exploring a variety of perspectives and contexts, and features conversations with: Sarah Rachel Brown, Lulu Harrison, Åsa Dybwad Norman & Ben Lignel, and Berenice Hernández.

SHOOTS defines WAK Festival 2026 as a season of emergence. It celebrates new genres taking shape, bold ideas breaking ground, and young talents stepping into the light. As a community driven platform, WAK nurtures creative startups and first time voices, transforming fragile beginnings into confident growth that renews and energises Sarawak’s creative industry.

The WAK Festival is a community-driven month-long open access celebration of the arts, culture and lifestyle. Happening every October, the multi-genre programme is centred around Kuching and greater Kuching.

1st - 4th October 2026

Craftİstanbul 7th International Handicrafts and Design Fair serves as an international meeting platform bringing together artisans, designers, cultural institutions, collectors, and handicraft enthusiasts. It aims to strengthen the visibility of handicraft communities, support artisans in accessing new markets, and encourage dialogue between traditional hand craftsmanship and contemporary design practices.

The fair, which exclusively showcases handicrafts, and which excludes bijouterie and industrial products, brings together artisans, associations, cooperatives, local authorities, workshops and university design departments, development agencies, and craft villages from foreign countries.

Throughout the fair, there are talks, panels, workshops, clothing and fashion shows, and musical performances. This year a special section has been set aside indoors for the sale and tasting of geographically indicated products in packaged form. In the open-air area, there will be opportunities for cooking demonstrations and workshops.

To Have and to Hold

KAFART — the Kaduna Fashion and Art Festival — is a multidisciplinary festival celebrating contemporary art and fashion in Northern Nigeria and beyond. Five editions on, it has grown into a gathering where artists, designers and audiences meet: more than 100 creatives platformed, participants from more than five countries, and a festival economy that ripples through Kaduna.

In 2026, KAFART enters a new phase as a biennial. To Have and to Hold reflects on what we choose to hold, what we let go, and the cost of holding on — within our histories, our cultures and our societies. It is also a step in KAFART's growth — from a festival into a lasting cultural institution for Northern Nigeria.

Founded in Kaduna in 2019, KAFART began as a platform for art and fashion. Since then, it has convened exhibitions, runway presentations, talks, workshops, performances and exchanges that connect Northern Nigeria with creatives and audiences beyond it. In 2025, KAFART announced its transition to a biennial rhythm, creating more space for diverse narratives, voices and experiences through contemporary art and fashion.

Introducing Sui Dhaga 2026, curated by Manjari Nirula, Oroon Das, Sujata Prasad, and Kamayani Jalan, whose long standing engagement with material culture and artistic traditions anchors the vision of this platform.

Sui Dhaga 2026 brings together embroidery traditions from across the Asia-Pacific region. At its heart is a museum-scale exhibition, The Continuing Threadline, accompanied by a wider public programme of conversations, performances, residencies, and a curated bazaar, collectively celebrating and reframing embroidery as both a vital inheritance of women's artistic labour and a living source of design innovation.

The Continuing Threadline is seeking authentic examples of embroidery traditions from the Asia Pacific and within India, accompanied with relevant contextual information. Though not averse to contemporary experiments and artistic departures from traditional embroidery styles, the focus is presently on the work of traditional makers to enable stories to be told with a sense of journey and history. The hope is to enrich the exhibition narrative in favour of the handmade with biographies of such exhibits and to build empathy for their making rituals within the lives and places where they’re made. The aim is to position time-honoured embroidery practices as human inheritance and as a document of the cultural history of disparate civilisations, regions and communities.

The Terracotta Biennial is an event in the field of contemporary ceramics held every two years in La Bisbal d’Empordà, with the aim of highlighting creation and experimentation in clay and ceramic techniques. Organised by the Town Council and the Terracotta Museum, with the support of the Association of Ceramists of La Bisbal, the Biennial becomes a platform for artistic, professional, and territorial promotion.

The Biennial brings together artists, ceramists, researchers, freelancers, and the general public in a rich and diverse program that combines exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, and conferences centered on ceramics. With an open and participatory approach, the event offers creative experiences and public engagement, and creates spaces for interaction between creators and professionals in the sector.

In this 2026 edition, the theme of the Biennial will revolve around “Contemporary ceramics as a driver of transformation.”

One of the distinctive values of the Terracotta Biennial is its ability to connect the ceramic tradition of La Bisbal d’Empordà with the most international contemporary trends, strengthening the city as a reference node on the European ceramics map. The Biennial promotes innovative projects and includes proposals from both emerging and established creators, fostering technical, conceptual, and cultural dialogue about the material and the creative process.

The Terracotta Biennial, with its combination of creativity, technique, and community, becomes a reference space for all those who wish to explore the expressive possibilities of ceramics, consolidating La Bisbal d’Empordà as the capital of ceramics and a meeting point for the arts of clay.

This event is a series of satellite programs organised in conjunction with a contemporary jewellery exhibition scheduled to be held at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto.

During the exhibition period, various programs - such as exhibitions, workshops, and performances - will take place across Kyoto at galleries, studios, and shops. CJST will compile all participating programs into an official guide and disseminate the information both domestically and internationally.

Over the final weekend of October Craft Month, Farnham’s makers and craftspeople open their studios, galleries or other venues to the public to showcase their work. 

Farnham and the surrounding countryside is home to an astonishing number of craft makers, craft organisations, creative micro-businesses and independent creative industries.  Makers work from home, from retail outlets, in dedicated workshop spaces and from bespoke craft studios in the town. As a World Craft Town, Farnham will work to support its makers to become more resilient and enterprising and seek to create more affordable studio spaces and incubator units.

Take a stroll through the alleyways and streets of Farnham, and signs of the town’s makers are everywhere – in the buildings, in the green spaces, in the street names, in the contemporary work in our high street galleries and shop windows, and in the generations of craft apprentices and students who have been and continue to be educated in the town.

Seven Sections, Seven Paths, Seven Curators, Seven Sub-themes - Diversity in curation, global-local dialogue

The first Tainan Art Biennale will soon be launched, spanning museums, literary galleries, temples, commercial galleries and lodgings, and will become the first ‘Walking Biennale’ in Taiwan.

Guided by the Ministry of Culture and the Tainan City Government, the event is organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Tainan City Government and the Tainan Art Museum. The theme for this first edition is "Unfolding Circuits". The curatorial process is being executed by a team of seven curators: Lin Pang-soong, Hsieh Tsung-che, Kao Jun-honn, Yang Chia-hsuan, Ko Chun-ju, Chuang Tung-chiao, and Ko Yi-yun.

In terms of scale, this biennial features a highly decentralised spatial layout, with a network comprising 16 core exhibition areas and 16 satellite sites that integrate the event into the existing architecture and historical fabric of Tainan’s urban landscape. The lineup includes artists from 12 countries - Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Nepal, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Poland, the UK, and the USA - with a total of 81 artists across 15 groups participating in this inaugural biennial.

The curatorial concept for Unfolding Circuits draws inspiration from the distinctive "traffic circle" infrastructure of Tainan, translating these physical nodes of traffic flow into spatial imagery characterised by movement, intersection, and circulation. Through this conceptual framework, the exhibition aims to observe the cross-disciplinary interplay between local culture and international contemporary art within a specific geographical context.

Design Doha is a biennial for design excellence from Qatar and the MENASA region. Established by Qatar Museums in 2024 under the leadership of its Chairperson, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The initiative comprises exhibitions, commissions, juried awards, coaching programs, publications, and special events. The event is held every two years, providing an ongoing focus for the rising energy of Qatar’s creative sector. Fahad Al Obaidly serves as Acting Director and Glenn Adamson is Artistic Director.

This second edition of Design Doha will mark an expansion in the scale, ambition, and international participation of the biennial for contemporary design.

Its headline exhibition, Arab Design Now 2026, curated by Noura Al Sayeh, will be presented at M7, Doha’s centre for innovation, entrepreneurship, fashion, and design, featuring the work of 81 designers and makers. There will also be exhibitions developed in collaboration with leading regional and international institutions including Turquoise Mountain, Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, Fromm., VCUarts Qatar, ITHRA, Bricklab, Aga Khan Trust for Culture, Liwan Design Studios and Labs, and others.

Doha will host both Art for Tomorrow and the 12th annual Global Cultural Districts Network Conference. These two events take inspiration from the capital of the nation, which has put culture at the centre of its national vision to become a hub for global exchange and thought leadership.

OFICI Traditional Craft Fair, is created with the mission of promoting the craft sector, under the organisation of the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion of Catalonia (CCAM) and the agency Le Département, with the support of the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia. This strategic alliance aims to enhance the development of a platform that promotes the integration of traditional craftsmanship into contemporary markets.

The fair is conceived as a space that highlights traditional trades in the current context. Its goal is to give visibility to and promote excellent artisanal work, facilitating encounters between professionals, industry influencers, creators, and the general public. In this way, craftsmanship is positioned as a cultural, creative, and economic practice of the highest order, fostering knowledge exchange and the sector’s visibility.

Held in this historic city, the ITAMI International Craft Exhibition ‘Shuki Shuhaidai’ (Japanese Liquor Sake ware) is an international open-call exhibition of craft works centered on the theme of Japanese sake. Open to artists from Japan and overseas, entries are selected by a jury for the competition exhibition.

Itami, the birthplace of sake, has flourished as a brewing town for more than 400 years, cultivating a rich and vibrant culture. In 2024, JAPAN’S TRADITIONAL BREWING was registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and ‘Itami Seishu (refined sake)’ was designated as a Geographical Indication (GI), certifying it as a high-quality regional brand. These recognitions have further heightened interest in Itami’s sake culture.

International Biennial of Crafts and Creation

As the first international extension of Révélations, REVELATIONS CHINA provides a vibrant space for contemporary, diverse, and professional dialogue. It fosters meaningful exchanges between creators, collectors, and cultural institutions, while serving as a platform that supports international artisans and artists in accessing the Asian and Chinese markets.

Set in Shanghai, one of Asia’s most dynamic cities. As a bridge between East and West, its creative energy and international outlook make it a true cultural crossroads. Every November, Shanghai bursts into life with art fairs, salons, and exhibitions, drawing collectors, galleries, and enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate the city’s golden season of art trading.

The Asia Pacific Crafts Alliance has been invited to participate in this event for the first time. APCA will be collaborating with the Sarawak Crafts Council of Malaysia, presenting works from artists including, Kampung Semerah Ulu weavers, Pua Kumbu ikat weavers of Rumah Garie longhouse, and Dayang Tigur of Bekelalan village.

APCA will also be presenting works from Vicki Mason - jewellery from Australia; Layla Walter - glass artist from New Zealand/Aotearoa; Ankon Mitra presenting the art of folding from India and KIM Kyung-mi - jeweller from South Korea.

KOGEI Art Fair Kanazawa is Japan’s only art fair dedicated to crafts, providing a platform to showcase new kogei (crafts) aesthetics and values to an international audience.

Launched in 2017 and growing each year, the 2025 edition featured 42 galleries (39 from Japan and 3 from overseas) showcasing and selling works by approximately 210 artists. The fair is held within hotel guest rooms, allowing visitors to view the artworks in a setting that closely resembles a real-life living space. As each room is curated by a single gallery, visitors encounter a unique artistic world as they move from room to room.

The first announcements regarding the 2027 Cheongju Craft Biennale have now been released.

Artistic Director

The Artistic Director for the 15th Cheongju Craft Biennale has also been officially announced. Kim Ye-sung is widely recognised as a seasoned ‘rising curator’ with extensive experience in the domestic and international craft sectors, notably curating the 2026 KCDF traveling craft exhibition, Shared Assets.

Kim Ye-sung has declared the theme for the Biennale to be ‘Back to Human’. In the era of Artificial Intelligence, where AI has permeated human life and the realm of art, and in a time of rapid upheaval marked by war and the climate crisis, this theme embodies a cultural practice aimed at reflecting on how we engage with the world. Through craft - which is fundamentally connected to human spirit, senses, and emotions - it seeks to redefine our relationships and attitudes.

Guest Country

The invited country will be Poland - which is opening new horizons in European craft. As the guest country, the Cheongju Craft Biennale will be engaging in a special cultural exchange of Polish craft in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (AMI), a national cultural institution under the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

International Craft Competition

Application dates have been announced for the 2027 Cheongju International Craft Competition - 26th March - 5th May 2027. The Competition exhibition will be open during the Biennale events.

Preliminary information is now on their website and you can also download a pdf here. This information is currently available in Korean, but more language translations should become available closer to the time.

This will also be the first Biennale since Cheongju was designated a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts.

The Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (IOTA) is a not-for-profit arts organisation based on Noongar Country in Western Australia that connects artists, curators and communities across the Indian Ocean region through contemporary craft.

Launched in 2021, the Triennial presents a major international exhibition in partnership with Western Australian institutions, alongside an international conference, and a statewide festival of community exhibitions and events. Through residencies, exchanges and public programs, IOTA builds cultural links between Australia and countries across the region.

The third installment of the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial is returning in 2027, and plans are already underway including the announcement of the theme:

“When you look at the ocean, you see the sky”

When you look deeply at one element, you encounter another.

This in-between space mirrors the world of craft: a threshold between tradition and innovation, body and spirit, local knowledge and global exchange.

Craft is intercultural and often being remixed. Here, unity is not sameness but interconnection; every element shapes and is shaped by another.

The Indian Ocean is a space of plurality, where local and global, tradition and innovation, individual and collective are reflected.

The Indian Ceramics Triennale was established in 2016 to address a critical gap: despite India’s deep ceramic and craft histories, contemporary clay practices historically lacked sustained national visibility and international dialogue. The nomadic format relocates each edition to a new city and venue, allowing local context and community to shape the platform anew each time.

The Indian Ceramics Triennale supports ceramics as a contemporary artistic language — one that moves fluidly across art, craft, design, architecture, ecology, and technology. Through exhibitions, research initiatives, public programming, and education, the Triennale nurtures a growing and diverse ecosystem of artists working with clay across India and beyond.

In this third edition of the Indian Ceramics Triennale, the exhibition is seen as an incubator of possibilities. Artists are invited to hold this undefined and unknown moment filled with potential, to dare to play through inventiveness, provocation, humour, satire, meaning, absurdity, performance and color.
